Bronx Zoo

The Bronx Zoo is a great place for those who want to escape from the city a day or two. With more than 700 different species spread across 265 acres of parkland, the zoo is a great place, especially for kids.

The Bronx Zoo is one of the world's most renowned zoos, and has been educating and inspiring visitors for over a century. The zoo is home to more than 11,000 animals, from little Tanzanian toads to big Russian wild cats, with many endangered species in the collections. The zoo is located in the heart of the Bronx, and since its opening in 1899, it has been serving as a springboard for conservation efforts in the entire world.

The area is huge, but there's a shuttle that loops between various points of interest. The grounds have plenty of signs, places to sit down and regroup, and bathrooms.
100% must-sees:

  • the giraffe building,
  • the Congo gorilla forest
  • the house of reptiles
  • the flamingos. And the sea lions — they are incredibly cute!
